Hi I have a question on how to tell a birds age because their is a person who is selling her finches for 50 and they are gouldian finches by the way it is 50 for a female and male so I was amazed by the price and I want to get them but I would like to know how to tell if they are old :?:

the only way to have an idea of a birds age is to purchase young birds.
some breeders use leg rings that have the year marked on them. a lot dont though.
all you can really do is ask the person selling the birds what year they were bred and hope that they are decent enough to give you an honest answer.
this is one reason to avoid purchasing birds from pet shops as 9 times out of ten the salesperson has no idea what they are talking about and only care about the sale

yer lol you are right i work at a pet store and it is not my falt but we buy it off the public and i or the manager have no idea how old they are so it is best that you go to a breeder which you can trust. thanks toddles

$50 a pair for gouldians is a little more than we pay in NSW
