Hi all ,
Its my first real breeding attempt with these guys this year and , after ironing out the kinks , Im finally achieving good results
Im just curious , do the cock birds only display belligerent behaviour toward only the juvenile cock birds , or are they indiscriminate with both sexes ?
I had left the juvies in with parents up until yesterday with no problems whatsoever , a few days ago the parent pair hatched another 3 young and the cock birds attitude toward 1 of the young took a turn for the worse.
The parent cock bird seems to have no issue with 1 of the 2 youngsters , who is duller in over all colouration but began harassing the larger more brightly coloured of the 2 a few days ago .
The youngster in question is , I believe , a cock bird , as it started to possibly sing around the same time .
How old are the cock birds before they begin singing ?
The youngster is around 6 - 8 weeks out of the nest .

I would move the Juvenilles. The one that is getting picked on by adult male is a young cock most likely would be just starting to sing. They should be Independant by now.
