We have a pair of Zebra Finch, at the moment we are feeding them a Finch seed mix and millet spray, also we have a cuttle shell in the cage and a grit mix. however they don't seem to be going anywhere near the shell grit or cuttle bone. is there anything we can do to encourage them to peck at it, and should we include anything else? Have also tried a few greens like spinach and lettuce but still no interest.

That's a suitable diet for Zebra Finches. They eat grit when they feel need to eat It But supply at all times But most Zebras I've had love there greens maybe try some cucumber or milk thistle or grasses.

As long as grit is available you are doing what you should.

You can try a variety of greens- I give mine a mix of endive, spinach and chickweed, as well as green seeding grasses, which they love. Mine don't like cucumber or zucchini, so I don't bother giving them that any more.

Ditto giving them seeding/weed grasses instead of kitchen greens as my preference.

I cage bred them in mass on seed and water with the garden variety greens.
The best thing to do is to pick fresh seeding grasses from your garden or a neighbors.
They seem to last longer than the chicory I buy.
Mine used to get a calcium hit from egg shell.
