threw a few feathers into the diamond sparrow aviary. first to hit was the fawn pied hen. took this photo threw the wire. you can barely make her out so i decided to get in with them

pied cock was next to arrive

followed by his son. normal split pied and fawn

couple of light pied hens followed but none of the fawn/pied or fawn pieds showed up again

unable to go into the next area. too confined and the nests are very close together. it's in this section where the fawn pied hen spends most of her time. hunted her off her eggs last week.....so best nut push my luck

yeah. pretty snug in that aviary. very well insulated from the cold. have about 20 diamonds in there probably 5 have nest with eggs. only drama i have to remove 6 tri colour parrot finches in the next couple of days.
these will take some catching so i might have a bit of luck and catch them quick or it might not go as plan. either way they are going

G'day Wildbill......nice birds, thanks for sharing... .........

Can you elaborate on your wire nest cylinders....eg dimensions, position in the aviary?
Do you pre-fill them or do you leave all the work to the birds?

about 48" long by 15" in diameter. 2" chicken wire would be best but no drama with the 1/2 bird wire just cut the holes in the side.. in my aviaries they are located about a foot of the roof in the shelter. i never place the in the flight even though mine are fully laser light.
pack them right up then close in either end. where you made the entrance holes say 3 in the above size use your fist to make a large deep bowl. something similar to what you'd do for a gouldian nest.they will then line and feather it etc
