now for a more serious answer....hen lays the eggs. sexing is pretty hard but we all know the cock will be lured by any long strand of grass for a display dance. he will also display to any other cock bird near to him.
dna is the best bet or toss them into the flight and throw in some long grass and observe. if they both cart grass very good chance they are cocks. if he carts and she build your got yourself a pair.
i have only ever seem one hen in 110 diamonds i had in stock cart grass...but both will cart feathers to the nest
apart from that this may or may not be of help to you

My Turn.
I reckon 2 cocks, one just a bit closer to breeding condition. I would try the grass trick that wild bill suggested, works for me too.

Thanks Wildbill and David. I've put some grass lengths in the cage, but I suspect they'll leave them alone till they get to the aviary (it's not a huge cage). They're also VERY flighty, which I didn't expect, I hope they'll calm down in the bigger space when they get out of quarantine.

Perhaps the Spark water I gave them is making them hyperactive!!

Thanks to McCabe07 it looks like I'll have some more Hecks Longtails which I might need to get sexed next month, so I will probably hold off until then and get the discount for more birds.

Agree with Craig. Also when and if you get the diamonds DNA could you tell us what they are?

Might get them all DNA'd and then have a guessing game! I'll be sure to put up some Hecks pics and let you know what the diamonds end up being :D

hope they are settling down for you J.
diamonds from large planted aviaries will panic in small cages for a while so try not to disturb them too much as they will scour and go downhill easily.
my 2 cents worth....1st pic cock ....2nd pic also cock, though in the pic together their is some variation between the two so the second pic may turn out to be a hen....goodluck with them.
if you can seperate them so they cannot see each other they will call to one another, you will notice a difference here as well ....many old wives tales with diamonds! A feather from each off to dna sounds wise to me also.
