Old finch keeper revisited

Hi to all

New to this forum but been keeping finches (mainly gouldians) on and off since 1965!
I'm in the process of rebuilding my aviary after it fell into disrepair over the last three years after a soul destroying event made me give what I had left away. I lost most of my birds to what I think was bush rats.
Anyhow my wife bought me 2 pair of gouldians for xmas and I'm back in!
Ive been around long enough to know I'll never stop mice completely BUT I trying to build this aviary rat proof.
Maybe I can pick all your brains on rat proofing particularly the nest box area.

Sorry for the longwinded intro :notsure:
Im in Ulladulla South Coast NSW

see you on the forum
cheers
Glenn

Hi Glenn and welcome to AFF.
If you're willing to travel a bit then come along to one of the Wollongong Finch Club meetings (1st Monday of month).
Cheers,
Sam

Glad to have you along Glenn. Ulladulla is a beautiful place, I lived there from 2001 to 2007 actually that's where I met and married my beautiful wife. Tell me is the rainbow pie shop still there?

Good on you Glenn.

I know how exactly you feel as I lost a group of birds to rats once. And if I showed anyone where the rats got in they wouldn't believe me.
But we can all learn from setbacks and disappointments.

So welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome all.

The pie shop is still here brooksy but I think the name has changed to The Heritage Bakery. Ulladulla is a great area and supposedly has the most temperate climate in Australia which is great for bird keeping!

cheers
Glenng
