I took out the nests from my zebra avairy to give my pair a rest, (since the latest brood of 4 born dec last year were out of the nest) and bugga me if the female laid an egg in one of the seed containers (on top of a nice bed of seed :) ) and the male said woohoo & started adding foliage from the pot plant I have in the avairy and now she is sitting on 6 eggs

Looks like I will have to separate the pair if I want to give her a well earned rest, (she has raised 2 broods with me so far & she came from my daughter so lord knows how many she had over there!!!???)

I will wait until this atleast brood have left the nest & are feeding them selves though

Hopefully this weekend of very hot weather won't do any harm, I hose the avairy down & mist the birds several times a day on hot days!

Yep, that is Zebras! Anywhere there is a flat surface will do when laying eggs, even if you removed the male the hen would probably still lay eggs. Reckon they must have a bit of chicken in them.
Still if they are separated or clear eggs then at least they are spared the effort of raising young.

Having been through the same thing. I now breed my Zebs, by keeping them in a big holding avairy with the sellers and no nests most of the time. And put those I wish to breed into the breeding avairys with nests for a couple of months when it is their turn to breed.
