This fledged at a mates place,anyone want to comment on what mutation it is?

Your mate must have some split AY birds in his aviary. If he isnt sure which parents fledged this chick, tell him to look for adult birds with some light patches on either head, shoulders or wings, this could be quite a subtle change of colour. Could even have a lighter spot under the beak.

According to Jack,this birds sibling was pure white but it was dead on the floor so we are going to wait and see.I have never seen a pure white AY fledgling,they always have some dark patch some where.
I would also like to know whether the bird beside it is related to it. Cheers Craig

I've seen pure white young before,but only because the parents were a combination of euro yellow to Australian yellow,the young where terribly weak and died,the guy that bred them split the pairs up straight away,garyh

Ok,i have been pm'd by Jack,these birds are not the birds i was talking about and someone elses.The bird pictured is an AY Cheers Craig

garyh is correct on this one. A pure white fledgling is a combination of aus yellow and euro yellow. I had a couple of them fledge from a pair of euro yellows that were split to aus yellow (unknown at the time). Mine however weren't weak at all. It is a problem though when people mix the two mutations and don't understand or know the genetic background of birds they are selling.
