I came acros an article in the NEW Scientist magazine titled : Talk is cheep: Do caged birds sing a key to language?. It sets out to investigate the origins of the complexity of the Bengalese song in comparison to it's wild ancestor the white-rumped munia and proposes this could be a model for how human language evolved. I cant report on it now as I've burt the dinner!
