*sigh* hawk-headed parrot...saw a pair in a European zoo - can't remember which one - left a puddle of drool outside the aviary...

V,

Just googled and looked at them. Did not even know they existed, stunning birds, their own family genus too boot! Is that pair here in Oz? 50k? Worth more than my u beaut car. If they are here surely the gene pool must be pretty shallow. Good lookers though for those with hook tendancies.

Ken.

Some interesting and beautiful birds on that site however the prices are a fair indicator that I'll stick with finches for a while yet!

I would buy a pair in a heart beat if i had the money. A species that will require a lot of effort to build numbers but well worth it

They are one of the more difficult species to get established.
They have been around for a while but haven't really got going yet.
Unlike in years gone by, there aren't too many people willing to pay that sort of money for birds any more.

"Son of NEBRS" and associated goings on, the fiscal crisis, etc, created a fair bit of uncertainty in the 'industry'

By the way . .

What has happened to "Son of NEBRS". I had almost forgotten about it :silent:

Would you believe they are listed as SOLD!
Either someone had lots of spare cash OR it was a dodgy ad. One well known wealthy collector in NSW was apparently on the lookout for something different- perhaps it was him?

Arthur, don't worry about son of NEBRS. When the next keen anti-aviculturist bureaucrat gets in & the govt have some money it will no doubt rear its ugly little head again.
