Anyone live around Narrabri or Morre I am planing on looking for the plumheded finch around June or July. I have a few gps points I found on the net but am wondering how common they are in the area ? Any feedback on this finch in the wild would be appreciated.

G'day gomer, many years ago when i used the Newel Hwy to go to Qld i spotted a small flock of plumheads on the side of the road, after doing a u turn and driving slowly back to where i saw them they appeared one by one to a dead dried out carcase of an animal and began picking at it.
It was between Coonabaraban and Narrabri but at least 20 years ago.

Also, there was a few plumheads that came into the wild bird feed station at Ray and Wendy Lowes place in Qld,they were amongst a large flock of double bars.

I'm in Narrabri and regularly see plummies around, they are often called in by mine! I also often see them around the rivers near Manilla, as well as a few Diamonds if your lucky.

gomer, i also see the odd pair who come in for a look at mine.
they dont seem to be resident's though....more likely travelling(i'm near Tamworth).
year-round locals here are red brows, doublebars, zebras and the occasional diamond firetail.
call in if you are in the area.....even mexicans are welcome
