Hi all, I have another question on Gouldian genetics
that hopefully one of you experts can answer please.
Ok, I have heard that the WB gene is separate to the
Aus Yellow gene.
Assuming that the following birds are pure to their visual appearance:
If a normal bird (greenback) was paired with an Aus Yellow, all young should be
normal PB split for Aus Yellow.
If a WB normal bird (greenback) was paired with an Aus Yellow, shouldn't all young still be
normal PB but split for WB and split for Aus Yellow.
Only then would the young birds of the above make-up paired together, or paired with an
Aus Yellow or WB bird, produce WB birds.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks, Joel.
