First lot of gouldian babies have hatched so thrilled. Can anyone tell me if some gouldian hens build nests I have one that is picking up nesting material and putting it in the nesting box, never seen it before,

Sometimes the hens are ahead of the cock birds and will do this ,nothing to worry about as the cock birds soon catch up,but its nice to see,as you know you have a good hen, garyh

I must have the laziest Gouldians around as they don't build anything. I normally put some, and a stress some, nesting material in the boxes, and when I look at the eggs there seems to no more nesting material than what I started with.

I currently have one nest box, with chicks on the wooden floor of the nest box.

That are those that build excellent nest and those that do nothing and everything in between. If 2 birds are equall in every other way but one is a better nest builder, I would keep the builder.
