Hi All.
Attended an interesting Finch club meeting some time ago, where the question was posed (to a panel of very experienced breeders) as to the necessary level of expertise required to keep certain Species (or "higher order" members within the same Species).
Questions such as, "Which Finch/Finches would provide the grounding for a successful move into Crimsons" or "Does the ability to breed a truck load of Cordons mean that I am ready for Blue Caps" made for a fascinating discussion which expanded to cover everything from Red Brows to Orange cheeked Waxbills.
It was such a thought provoking topic that I felt it should be thrown open to members of the Forum for comment!
So, what is the "stepping stone" for Crimson or Orange Cheeked Waxbill or Blue Cap or Red Brow etc success? Should be a good read!
