Do Gouldians have noisy sex?

One pair of my Gouldians have chosen a nestbox, and today both male, and female were inside it. They were making alot of noise, the same noise they make when they fight actually. Is this an indicator of mating?

Hi fishtales
I have bread quite a few Gouldians over the years and have never heard them making noises when in the box together. I would keep an eye on this pair as the hen might not be compatible with the cock.

Have bred Goulds for a few years and know that they mate in the nest box. Have never seen them mate/copulate in the open, plenty of display though. The male calls her in and then if the nest site is agreeable , it happens. My obs support this because in the end the hen makes the decision as to the nest site otherwise the cock can play with himself all he likes. SWMBO makes the decision.
Does this sound familiar?

There seems to be two cock birds fighting over that hen and the box,maybe the noise was the unwanted cock bird trying to mate with the hen and she was showing aggression towards him.
Is there only one hen and two cocks in that cage? Craig

2 pairs in the cage, and both males do like that nest box. I have 6 boxes in the cage, and they fight over 1. Both males sing, and display, but I am unsure if they are after the same hen.

the hens have started fighting, guess this cage is to small for more than one pair. Added another box this morning, both males, and one female already checking it out. The birds seem keen to breed, the hens beaks are pretty black.

just took one pair out, found a female at the bottom of the cage, hiding behind a feeder

Two of gouldians in any size cage can be a recipe for fighting. Either one or three pair is suggested as best. Given the size of the cage I would say one pair and once a suitable nestbox has been chosen, remove the second box.

Hi, what is the reason for removing the extra box?
