Hi Guys,

I've just noticed that one of my black rump dbs has seizures and fits. All my birds are currently in cages as i am in the process of new aviary building but no other birds give off these systems.

Any Ideas on what i can do?

I would cull it...so as not to breed that into your flock.. others may have different views...

What is the bird actually doing?

I have to agree with VP,if the bird is exhibiting that type of behavior i doubt that anything can be done about it and it may pass it on down the track. Craig

Why does it have to be killed?
Can't you just separate it from your breeding stock and let it live out its days if it's not being to distressed?
It is an animal after all, not just a commodity.
Send it my way if that's the case, I'll take care of it.

( not directed at the OP, just the attitude that it must die is a bother for me)

Sime,it's the humane thing to do,DB's are highly strung birds. If its got what i think its got every time it gets stressed out it will panic and flip around the floor and damage its self or drop dead. Craig

But you see, I wasn't arching up about the possibility of killing it because it may be suffering, but the suggestions that it might breed with the others and pass it on, this is what I considered to be an issue.

its a personal thing, not everyone sees such a death as humane. Me, if he was uninjured, and got himself back into order after the episode, I would let him live.

Id just give him away to someone who keeps finches to look at. At least he can live his days out break dancing in someo es aviary without fear of passing the bad genes in. I thonk he won't last long anyway

Cull doesn't necessarily mean kill. Just means to exclude it from a breeding flock.
