I'm in the process of testing my new camera, so I thought I'd snap a shot of my 1st ever Gouldian pair. They're busily building a nest at the moment, but took a few minutes out to pose for me.

Hope they succeed with breeding? How cold does it there during winter?

I see it has been round the 10 mark overnight recently in the city. So yes put the blinds down overnight to keep the cold winds out.

It's been down to 1 degree around here overnight recently, which hasn't stopped the love! My first ever pair have chicks in the nest (no idea how many, but I can hear them). So excited!

The problem is not with laying and hatching, it is when the parents stop the round the clock sitting. My BH pair had 2 chicks going great, then we had a week of 2-5 degree nights at the same time as the parents backed off the sitting. Lost both chicks. Good luck I hope it does not happen to you.

Keeping my fingers crossed. So far, I only ever see one parent at a time, so we're looking OK.

I just lost a clutch of 6 young (last clutch of season)...because the hen stopped sitting as they do after 10 days...wasn't that cold either, 11c.... all young had full crops....so boxes are coming out see if that stops them.....
