Thought I would post some pics of my blue x split blue pairing.

These birds are truly amazing, They laid 6 and hatched 6. I know I shouldn't celebrate until 8 weeks after they fledged but that is still a good effort on the birds part. Shows good fertility and reliability. The other pair laid 7 hatched 7 and fledged 7 and I haven't lost one yet. Actually I have only lost one blue this season.

AMCA26 you have done a great job breeding such strong and reliable blues (the parent birds are the ones I got from you).

From what I can see in this nest t here are 5 blues. I believe there is also and possible a SF yellow/blue hen?

The blues are obvious courtesy of their white nodules and pink skin. The other yellow is different as the outer nodules are white not light yellow but the middle ones are dark.

The cock is GB/Blue yellow and the hen is Blue.

I hope mum and dad got to them after you as their crops are empty,good size clutch.

They will as they are good parents.

I caught them in the seed dish when I was entering the aviary so I hope most of it made it to the chicks.

Love the AY and have wanted to breed some for ages but have only acquired the odd split bird.

So it will be an AY/Blue...very nice combo.

It does mean that the dad is a split. Is that right? That would make the young one a hen (????) Could this couple produce a double mutation??

No Tom,both parents are split AY to get an AY chick.AY is autosomal recessive so can produce both sexes in young. Craig
