love this weather at the moment, not

.
monday was 38
tuesday 41
today 45
predicted temps for the nest few days are 45, 43, 43, 41, 38 and 39.
if it doesnt cool down after that I may have to move into the woolworths fridges for a while
all I want is for it to be cool enough to get outside and complete some more of the new aviary.
birds are all coping ok so far.

other than going to work each day

the only reason I go outside at all is for the birds. always changing their drinking water and turning the mist sprayers on for a few minutes.
just looked at the long range forecast, they are now saying that it is going to be 40+ until next thursday, which will be a much cooler 38
if I didnt think that the neighbours would get upset I would go out and do some work after dark

I have a digital weather station inside, with a read out from the avairys. It has been up to 5 degrees warmer in the avairys than ambient temp.Temp got up to atleast 44 that i seen as i was out most the day.Have lost one young redbrowed and three young budgies that i know of.I would say there would be a few lost in nests.

As Steven said we have been better of with the rain around to keep the temp down, feel sorry for the bird keepers out there battling the heat and the birds that don't make it, nature can be cruel sometimes.
Cheers
