Just curious as i've seen breeders selling Yellow Siskins as trios....is it better to run them as a pair or trio of 1 male and 2 hens? Cheers.

Just depends on the temperament of the male mostly. If he's a bit pushy & inclined to drive the hen every time she leaves the nest, then such a cock is likely to be well-suited to a trio. Most males will put 2 hens to nest although I've always found single pairs more productive per hen & if the male gets too pushy I'd take him out whilst the hen finishes off the young then return him for the next round.

Could put the 2 hens in different aviaries & alternate the male between them too.

Alright, if I ever get around to getting them, i'll try and get a pair, see how that goes. Thanks for your help
