Love how she turns to look for you then goes back in front of you to draw your attention, She is determined to keep you away from that chick!

The Crimson Chats will do the same. They are so convincing.

Great video Sam. Loved seeing the Plum-heads checking out the theatrics. Was that an Eastern Spinebill I could hear in the background?

I hadn't noticed, but yes it is - around the 55 second mark. Hopefully the Spinebills will breed this season too. Recently the pair seem to be somewhat hanging out together whereas previously they pretty much kept to themselves.

Seeing your Pytilia post reminded me of your Orange Chats, how did the young one go? Anymore breeding?

The second pair had 3 eggs. Again only one hatched and this chick has recently fledged. It was very strange as one afternoon there were 3 eggs then the next morning there was a single chick hatched but no sign of the other two eggs whatsoever. At the time I thought probably all 3 chicks had hatched but 2 had already perished, which led me to expect the final chick may also perish. Very pleased when it survived and fledged the other day.

Glad to hear the 2nd pair also did the right thing. Hope each pair had a different sex offspring.
