Hi from Perth. In the process of researching finch keeping and getting info on how to build an aviary.
I have chooks, two dogs and three human boys under 5 - so I am no stranger to feeding and caring for animals.
I do intend to breed finches but might stick to same sex mixed flock until I learn the ins and outs of keeping them alive before I attempt to tackle breeding.
I have enough room in my back yard to build a pretty decent aviary - I could probably fit one that is around 4.5 m (l) by 1.5 (w) and 1.8 (h). I was considering an Absco shed ashave one for the chook house but it was such a pain in the arse to put together and was thinking I could build my own to my specifications (double door etc).
In the mean time I'll keep researching and planning my aviary. I am sure I will be coming here to ask newbie questions.
Thanks
Adrian

Welcome aboard, Adrian.
Good move, practising with some bachelor groups first. Warning! The bug WILL bite, however!!

Thank you
I am tossing up with the idea of getting/building a flight cage which will at least get me started with 2 or 3 male finches whilst I design and attempt to build the aviary. That way by the time I get the aviary done I would at least have had some beginning experience in looking after finches
