Hi all,
I am about 60% into finishing my first flight cage. I'll need some way, bovuiously, to feed and water my birds and I was thinking that this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-x-MASON-BI ... 4184939018 might make a good feeder for a pair of zebras/or painteds?
And for the waterer I was thinking of something like this so I don't disturb the finches too much when replacing or topping up their water - has anybody used these? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rabbit-Guine ... 3a97598aee

any views on these.?

The water one doesn't work for birds as their drinking method is very different from rabbits and guinea pigs. They need an open bowl type container. They will also need a container to bathe in. This could be the same as their water dish if changed daily. Many people use plastic pot plant bases with a rock in.

The water type you suggests works very well for birds.
There are thousands in use around Europe by cage breeders. The newer type don't have a ball bearing. Don't ask me how this type works though.

That's all well and good Case but if Adrian has birds that have never drank from it they will drop dead of thirst,just put a shallow bowl of water in there and and change it daily you wont upset the birds infact they will become used to you being around and look forward to their fresh water. Craig

Water dish sounds like the way to go - cheap and effective. I take it that the feeder is ok to use? or could I just use a dish for seed/food as well?

Either the feeder you put up or a bowl will work. The one you put up has the advantage of lasting longer before needing a top up.
