I'm planning to feed termites as my sole livefood as I've got plenty of nests nearby. I bought a nest home last Thursday and placed it in a plastic garbage bin. Today I opened it up to find the termites still going but mould starting to grow on the nest. The interior is quite moist. I'm guessing the mould will be harmful to the birds so I've stopped feeding which is a shame as there's still HEAPS of termites. How can I prevent this happening again?

Hi Grant,you definately shouldn't seal up a termite nest by putting the bin lid on,you would be better off greasing the top four inches and replacing the lid with some corrigated iron with a brick on top,this will supply ventilation.
Imo get rid of that nest as the mould will go through it and kill the termites anyhow,good luck. Craig
