Have been having a few problems with ants over the past couple of months now that the warmer weather is arriving. Saw an add on the tele regarding Talon Ant Gel. Got some from Woolies and applied as directed near access points and trails. Well blow me down if the ants haven't all but disappeared after 2 days. Will monitor progress and effectiveness and report. Anyone else used it?

It's good stuff matcho. Ant Rid gel works well also. When we moved into our new home last fall, ants were on the kitchen counter. Couple days, as you say no more ants. I will use where I see then heavy outside! regards

I would ring the help line and ask about secondary poisoning. Although it appears to work quickly, aslong as they dont take the bait then enter the aviary and get eaten then you wont have the problem. It does state quote " Apply where ants are an obvious problem, around pets and other animal feeding areas."unquote. One would think they would not say this without thought. Any how the help line number is on the bottom of the link.

Garyh,
I only have painteds, stars and goulds, I have never seen them look at ants, actually seen them jump away. They cause grief. I would say that secondary is way out there. I will and am going to take the chance. Gee wizz, its working for me.
Please dont give me downers.
I will use Coopex shortly for the clean out, but this product helps me.

I have seen my finches eat ants on a number of occasions especially crimsons, have a read of this article below for consideration. I also use have used copex and now use prolong. Some chemicals can cause secondary poisoning others not. I don't know about the product you are using only that finches are know to eat some type of ants.Maybe the product you are using is safe maybe not.
