It's really nice to be here and to get the chance to meet you all. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Dmitri and I have been an avid bird fan since I was a young lad. My family immigrated to Perth from England (Russian background) when I was 11 and within my first week in Australia,I had attained my first budgie!! I quickly realised that there was an entire world of birds outside of robins and swallows and became obsessed with parrots of all sizes and colours, of which I hand raised and incubated over a hundred birds!I was crazed. I even used to take them to school to feed during recess and lunch and it made me very popular!

Reaching the age of 18, I realised that if I wanted to have any sort of career in life that didn't involve pulling stuff out of the ground, I would have to look for a different place to live. So with an apprehension of the big capital city, I chose Melbourne (still not sure why lol) as my new home. Suffice it to say, on my arrival I realised that space very much was at a premium here!!
So I tried to replace my birds with marine aquariums and exotic orchids, all of which are doing smashingly well but none of which seem to fill the void of my old feathery little friends. As a kid I had kept a finch aviary and loved every little bird I was lucky enough to have in my collection, but they were always overshadowed by the interactive potential of parrots at my young age. Now, I don't have space for 10 flights of cages or inner city neighbours tolerant enough for noisy parrots, but I do have a nice big back yard with enough space for a 3x3 aviary. A nice flock of pure blooded gouldians and other finches will fit my needs just beautifully!

So, after that somewhat extensive introduction, I am looking to buy the aviary in the coming weeks and hope to be stocking it up after NYD. I thank you all in advance for your advice, support and time that you will invest in assisting me in making the best possible home for my birds.
I can't wait!

Dmitri
