Hello All,

What is the best method to breed zebra finch hybrids. I know nothing about them, but I see white ones called pinto finches I don't know the difference.

So basically I'm looking at 2 hybirds.

One concerning zebra finches and the second concerning goldfinches and canaries.

What is the best way to breed canary european goldfinch hybrids ?

The best way is DONT breed hybrids. Whats wrong with the birds as they are? there are plenty of colour mutations available without messing up different species

I agree, the Zebra comes in that many different mutations already, surely there will be one that you like, without needing to hybridise.

Breeding Hybrids here in Australia is regarded as a big NO NO as it generally just creates an oddity.
Possibly the crossing of the Canary is sort of tolerated in certain circles but limited.
What you do in the USA is out of our control but I still can't see why anyone would think it's good for the birds.
Just my personal opinion.

The red factor came about from crossing a canary. There are just many reasons why people do it, especially for canaries.

If you have experience on the best method to do it, pls share.

I have always found artificial insemination the easiest way to do it.

Mind sharing your methods?
