Just had a good xmas present - saw the Pintails mating. He did the hover flight, she crouched & quivered her tail & they did the deed. It was immediately preceeded by 3 Saint males chasing hens & crowing which seemed to spur the Whydahs on.
I'm very taken with them. They imitate other finches perfectly. The male does perfect Red-faced PF, Diamond FT & Yellow Siskin whistles as well as his own lovebird-like chatter. Very unique birds.

Got one! At least I'm darned confident I've got one.
Can those who've gone before please confirm.... If I'm right tell me ASAP. If I'm mistaken then please leave me in my blissful state for an hour or so.

Thanks. I'll take that as proof! Couldn't have done it without you (the Pintail cock was from Bgould). Successful "bird-day" today as my RC Robin hen arrived a few hours ago as well.

That's good news, the more breeding them the better.
