Orange-cheek fledgling's

One of my pairs came through for me and by yesterday evening, 3 healthy fledgling's were out and about :D

The parents are wild-caught, purchased December 2013. Diet consists of a good seed mix, fresh fruit/veg, egg food, lots of mealworms twice a day and fruit flies (via 2 small bowls of fruit, changed weekly in the aviary). Otherwise they get green seed and aphids and bugs from the planted section of the aviary. I have 3 pairs of Orange-cheeks in a mixed collection of waxbills, aviary being 2m(h)x2m(w)x4m(d)

It is an incredibly rewarding moment for me :D

Congrats,

How jealous am i, have only been trying for the last 4 years
Plenty of nests, all with clear eggs. Two pairs are starting to throw grass around, maybe this time.

Congratulations to the birds and you. For getting the adjustment from wild to domestic right.

Thanks so much everyone!

I put a lot of research and thought into this aviary and which birds to stock it with (aviary went up November 2013). It's great to know the hard work is starting to pay off
