I'm interested in what particular types of bird feeds people
recommend as a general feed for zebra finches, and also anything
people would want to add as far as vitamin supplements, calcium
sources, grit, protein supplements, greens, insects, etc...

Thank you!
David

nothing beats a good finch mix that well balanced.dont reccomend the stuff u buy at coles etc .i give them i mix of grit with calcium , charcol, iodine etc theres a few of these products available on the market. even cuttlefish by itself would be good. plenty of green seeding grasses. lebanese cucumber, silver beet and spinach the list goes on . fresh water daily.there are also some soft foods you can give your birds egg and busicut and one i use from passwell finch soft food. only small amounts of this stuff as they can hog it and stack on the weight.. hope this helps...pete

The backyarder with a single aviary and a couple of zebs.would mostly just give them a seed mix a bit of cuttle fish and the odd weed from the garden. They would survive and breed.but i know i wouldnt like to be fed the same thing all the time.
So what the others said is the ideal diet, and what i to would recomend.
