It's not the black cocks that are fawn it's only the hens, somehow the cocks hide the fawn colouring so i'm told :wtf: Craig

Uncle has some from original breeder, and struggles to have the birds even feed the young fawns but feed the Splits. And when they do feed the fawn coloured birds all are hens, so having trouble breeding cock birds. Just his experience with them.

Wonder if it is fawn (non sex linked usually) or cinnamon (sex linked usually) ?? And if this has anything to do with the appearances of the birds so far? Sounds like it is sex linked cinnamon.

Big chance FB is correct with her 'Cinnamon Theory' (if it is not sex-linked it is not cinnamon)

The parrot boys take a long time to produce a cock bird when a new (sex-linked) mutation pops up

Cock birds are always much more expensive than hens, due in some part to their rarity, but mainly because of the fact that a cinnamon cock with a NORMAL hen will produce 'guaranteed' results i.e. cinnamon hens and split cocks (no possibles)

Craig says that there are only black cocks ATM, that is probably because being a new S-L mutation, the 'coloured' cock birds haven't arrived yet

When/ if they do the price will start to drop a bit because more colour will be produced

One of the good things about S-L mutations is that they can be 'outcrossed' to strengthen bloodlines and still produce 'colour'; therefore there are no excuses for not outcrossing

BTW what is the asking price?

There are a few cocks becoming available lately & they look to be a dark chocolate colour.
