I have normal gouldians which have been breeding without any problems
wanting to get into blue gouldians. Are there any special requirements to breed these or will they breed just as easy as normals
providing im going try blue to blue only
Looking forward to your response before i invest in a few blues.
Thanks

Opinion will vary greatly on this one.
Advice....dont breed blue to blue. Get splits or out cross to normal to get your own splits going.

In my opinion, blue to blue is not recommended as the blue strain is still not strong enough,i know of breeders that have tried only to breed really small unhealthy birds, stick to blue to split, garyh

It doesn't matter what gender is blue, just so long as one is,i breed a lot of blue hens to split cocks,if you breed split to split you end up with a lot of possible split blues, that then have to be proof bred to see if they are splits or not,to much mucking around ,garyh

No. Any offspring must have a Blue gene because the Blue parent only has blue genes to pass on. Therefore Blues and split blues will be all you can produce. This is why the recommendation to use this combination. No waste with possible split blues turning up. But split to split beats no blue blood at all.
