Good morning

If anyone in Melbourne has reds, I would like a red cock or hen.

Regards

Tried putting the young cock into the fawns avairy to pick a mate, while putting a young fawn cock in with the parents and daughter to be daughters mate. Birds didn't think much of that idea. Mum went out of condition, Dad put daughter down to nest, young cock snuck back past me into "his" avairy, then put Mum who had come back into condition down. Everyone ignored the young cock I put in for daughter. Now I have another round of split reds/or not. And Dad/daughter have produced a hen that has the cheek patches and some visually normal fawns, while Mum/son have produced a pied hen and some visually normal fawns. Busy ringing and sorting. Will try completely removing the original normal fawn mum, and putting a young fawn charcol hen to dad or son. Whoever will co-operate.

They are a pain to breed.

I had two normals pop out of a red front fawn pairing.

Good luck with round 2

Yup. Only other red fronted birds in with them.

They are colouring up like normals but maybe they'll show some red later.

Steve could you post a couple of photos.

How are the other red pairs going? Is there any improvement in the red head colouring yet?

Will do this morning.

I have had issues of hens abandoning chick a few days before fledging or chicks gettibg tossed at 2 to 3 days old.

Never had these issues with zebs.
