Got these off the plane this morning

Funny thing was I met a fellow there at the airport who got pied goldfinches from the same breeder.

Enjoy

As sure as I can be.

Thats why I got one pair instead of all of them.

Looked good, breeder seemed ok....reputable cup nest breeder.

Will see when they colour up. Ill post an updated photo after the molt finishes. In one photo what looks like black face feathers is water. So that should rule out himalayan crosses.

Only time will tell but I wouldn't be surprised if there were birds out there of the euro and Oriental mix.

Sounds like you will have no trouble selling any young. Good luck with them.

At present the OFGs are in with one pair of red siskins, goldfinches, yellow siskins and some gouldians. This is a holding aviary 4 x 2.5 by 1.8 (h).

In July I am going to put them into a flight 1 meter by 2.5 deep and 1.8 high. I will house them with 1-2 pairs of gouldians (blues and split blues).

I will be housing all my cup nesters in a similar manner (5 yellow sisking flights, 1 red siskin flight, 2 goldfinch flights and the 1 oriental green finch flight). I will also keep my canary pair for fostering as required and one muling hen in cages.

I may try some yellow siskins in cabinets but from what I have seen they never really settle.

It the OGFs breed well I may get another pair and move 1-2 pairs of yellow siskins out to make room for more but that wont be until 2017 as this year will be their first breeding year and they are more than likely going to mess it up like most first year birds.

Worse case is I have a bucket load of fosters available.
