Breeding register??

How many members would be interested in a forum breeding register?

Any information that is used in starting this and then updating it each year would be kept in confidence by the forums Admin team.
the only details that would be made public would be the total number of each species for the whole forum and possibly a state by state number as well.
to start it we would need the total number of birds members have of each species and for each year after that it would require how many new birds you have bred.
A list similar to that which was sent out regarding bird prices would be sent to each member of the forum.

to give you more of an idea of what I mean, here is a link to one that has been running for quite a few years in the UK
http://norfolkforeignbirdassociation.sy ... ecords.php

I'm up for it.
Be very interesting just how different areas do compared to others from year to year.
Also single par's to mixed. Avery size ect. or just the numbers like the link.

Since I live in a state of chaos and not in Australia I can't be in the register however I'd like to ask some questions.
A) How useful is the register to the members if it can't be accessed except by the administrators
B) How useful are the statistics when only a very small percentage of finch owners are members of Aussie Finch Forum
C) Can you guarantee the database can not be subpoenaed by State/Federal Regulatory Authorities - members may have birds not allowed in their state or with their particular license

The numbers should be easy to show as long as you can't see whos got what I guess. If people have birds they shouldn't then don't put it on the register :)

I've only got a few birds but more than happy to give the info to you.

This sounds like a Good idea.

The Waxbill society in the UK also keeps a register like this. Its good to know that some birds still exist and are breeding.

will try to answer your questions Greg.
A) the information will be available to members, but no names will be put onto the list.
B) The forum is growing all the time.which means that while the register would start off small it will grow at the same rate as the forum.
C) they can subpoena all the information they like, once a member has sent their information to us via pm and said info has been added to the register the pm will be deleted. no hard copy of any pm's would be made. so there would be nothing for them to find

what do people think of it being done the same as each financial year.
a pm sent to each member listing all the species of finch & softbill and then returned after it has been filled out.
if the pm were to be sent out at the beginning of june each year and returned by the end of that month. a week after that the updated register would be available.
