I have noticed body size in gouldians varies a bit, most birds around melbourne are average size but some alot bigger, the smaller birds a sign of inbreeding? anyone noticed ?

I have had smaller birds come out with bigger birds in the same clutch. I would think not inbreeding. But pick your biggest birds to breed with, specially the Hen.

Body size & consistency of body size is certainly something which can be improved on by careful selection of breeding stock.

Bigger isn't always better

Have a look at show budgies..big but useless. They cant even fly 5meters

No, bigger isn't always better & everyone is welcome to select to whichever features they find desirable. I personally like bigger sized Gouldians with full but tapered body type. I find small pencil-shaped birds very unattractive by comparison.

I alway go first and formost for a robust action, then nice bright colouring. Bother if they are big or small.

I love to go 'off topic' as you probably know . .

But here is a simple conundrum . .

What has four legs and flies?
