Just finished a new flybox,the right hand side is for the flies to breed and the left side is for growing the maggots out.
Will trial it out in the next few days and report back.

I am not being picky as the box looks great but where the flies are you may consider 2 globes.
Not for extra heat but just in case one blows and you could lose the lot.
My new box has now got 3 globes, one very small wattage one on all the time and 2 wired in to a thermostat
Seems to be working well and most definitely cheaper to run.

Pretty sure you want be needing the heat to grow them out Jack. They produce their own heat so no extra heat needed or they will pupate to quickly and at a smaller size before they grow out.
The box being next to the fly cage will produce enough heat through the wall in that confined space and with the front on will be enough to get them started
using their own heat.
The reason i use a heat pad under mine in the birdroom is because it's too cold to get them started but once they have i turn it off. Craig

Fantastic box, but I agree with E Orix, my box only had one globe and it blew, now all the flies are dead and i'm going to wire in another one

Extra bulb added,all 3 are wired to a thermostat.

I made the previous fly box for a mate.
This is the one I use in my bird room.Same deal,flies are bred in the cabinets
and are grown out in a separate cabinet,note size of maggots after 4 days.
These lights are also on a thermostat,have run it like this for some time
now without any problems.I had a light blow overnight in June and didn't loose
many flies as the fronts are covered at night to keep the heat in.
