Just checked the nest after hearing some noise.
Very pleased to find two babies about 2 days old.
Will put in a link to my youtube channel shortly as the photos dont do them justice.
Very pleased that persistence paid off.

Size wise i knew they were similar to budgies. But those babies look so like baby budgies too. Are they as heavy on the green seed with chicks as budgies are?

They are meant to eat a lot of vegies but mine wont eat anything but apple and chikory.
The seed is plain canary with saff and sunflower.
The adult birds are more stocky than budgies but similar in body length to one of those fat english budgie things.

Very popular in Europe and there known as the Catharina parrot.
Lots and lots of info on this species on the net. I put a question mark with the plain canary though?
Easy to breed and like the budgie they have gone awol with the mutations. Hope you can manintain some in their natural form.
cheers, case
