I have drenched my chickens my question is can I feed the eggs from the drenched chickens to my finches or would the traces of the drench be too strong

Couldn't comment on the safety side . .

But do you have to feed those eggs to your finches . .

A dozen eggs from Coles cost a lot less than one (or several) finches

I drenched the chickens with ivermectin pour on for cattle at the required dosage, have been drenching them for years with no side effects.

Hi Storz,

We worm our chickens with the Vetafarm Wormout Tablets and I have been advised by the vet that I can feed the eggs, that are laid during the withholding period (two weeks), to my other birds. I am not sure about Ivermectin, but I can find out for you when I go into work on Friday. What is the dosage rate that you are using?

Hi Suzane

I have been putting two drops onto the chickens and haven't have not had any losses or side effects It would be good if you could find out if it has any effect on the finches as in a worm control or if it would have any other effect on them

Two drops of ivermectin imo would not be doing much for the size of a chicken other than keeping down mites/lice for a while. I used to use two drops on my finches to get any results but now use moxidectin plus in their drinking water. Craig

Hi .I have read the fact sheet for Ivermectin so I copied and paste .
1mL for each 10kg liveweight
WITHHOLDING PERIOD
Meat: DO NOT APPLY to cattle less than 42 days before slaughter for human
consumption.
DO NOT APPLY to deer less than 35 days before slaughter for human consumption.
Milk: When milk or milk products are to be used for human consumption do not
administer to cows within 28 days prior to calving or during lactation.
ESI (Export Slaughter Interval)Δ: 42 days
