Hi,

Does anyone know of any products that can be used for getting rid of earwigs, and that are safe to use around birds and dogs? The earwigs at our place are in plague proportions at the moment and it is driving us mad. Every time we pick up a feed bowl, you get a handful of earwigs. They are in everything and everywhere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Coopex? or on the other hand get into softbills, reckon they would be great live food. Haven't seen them around in any numbers for years. Used to play with them as a kid.

Hi Suzanne, yes same here they are every where. As matcho says, coopex is they way to cut down on their numbers and it won't harm your birds but don't spray the earwigs,spray where they hide as well as under the bottom of your bowls before you place them in your aviary. Craig

I would love to get into softbills, but, unfortunately, I don't have to room at the moment. Maybe one day when I get to build my dream aviaries, I'll get some softbills. For now, I'll just have to stick with the Coopex to get rid of the creepy crawlies.

I'll try to source the Coopex locally tomorrow. I hope I find it because the creepy crawlies are driving everyone mad. I had to take the dog outside late last night and they were all over the back door step and the door. I ended up bringing some inside on my clothes. I think it's worst since we've had the rain.

Some pet shops and hardware stores sell coopex.

I thought the rural supplier in town should have it if the pet shop or the hardware stores don't sell it.

Most Quail species will eat them. Won't solve your problem, but can help to keep the numbers down.

I know bunnings sells it ,and coles use to have it don't know if they still do,all depends if there is a store near you,garyh

I managed to get the Coopex in Bunnings a couple of days ago. I haven't been able to do the spraying yet because I have been away for work, but I will get stuck into tomorrow.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one with the earwig problem. The problem is so bad in Bathurst, in Central Western NSW, that it even made the front of our local newspaper today.
