I have a couple pairs of Gouldians going this year in an avairy. Have put in 3 nests for the two pairs. First pair down as normal. Second pair are insisting on making a nest in the stainless steel cup I have the charcoal in half way down aviary.....

Never encountered this before. .... has anyone experienced anything similar. Wooden nest boxes are available with a round hole.

As a measure I'll place a large cane nest in place of the cup and place some more wooden nest options in too, prob with a slit opening....

Anyone experienced anothing similar? Interested in any other thoughts .....

Really need 2 nests per pair and at different levels. .as dominant pr usually take the highest and leave the lower for others

Most years I have at least one pair which prefers to build their own nest in the brush rather than use the boxes provided.

I have had them use painteds and stars nests in the brush even when there are plenty of boxes.
