Yellow Tufted Honeyeaters - released into the aviary yesterday, settling in well and feeding.
These are the nominate subspecies but the same species as the critically endangered Helmeted Honeyeater that Healesville Sanctuaary has been breeding/releasing for years.

Nice birds Sam. My 2nd favourite honeyeater after Scarlets.
Are they in the poolside aviary?

Yes. A bit of chasing from the New Hollands but seem to have settled now.

I have UV lights in the aviary itself that are on all night - heaps of moths at the moment.

I was surprised to see a few years ago in the Hunter that wild Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters inhabiting mature eucalypt forest still nest down very low amongst bracken fern at roughly knee-height. May be worth considering when next spring comes around.
