Looks like scaly mite to me, use some sort of oily liquid.. vegetable oil or ivermectin direct to the area daily to suffocate them. Craig

Painteds are very prone to scaly mite, you will have to clean your perches,nest boxes and spray the whole aviary with coopex imo

I had the same issue with my zebra, used Vaseline on the beak and all good after that. Photo was taken before treatment.

Using natural perches, branches makes treatment easier. Because you just replace with fresh and burn the old ones.
