The other day I sent Avi Grain an E mail , and I told them what they are selling isn't what's on the packaging . I bought 20kgs of red Panicum ,when I opened the bag it had at least 20% of something else... when I gave it to my birds , they ate the red Panicum and left the rest..so out of a 20 kg bag 4 kgs got swept up and put in the garbage, that makes the price of seed dear when you throw it away.
About 5 years ago I bought bags of Avi grain finch seed and when you look in the birds seed dish it looked like they had heaps , but the stuff that was left there was rubbish . Some of the finches cant crack the Panorama and turn there nose up to Canola ,so they flick it on the floor looking for better food . When I realised what was going on I decided to buy the seed and mix it my self, so now I buy a bag of French white a bag of Canary and a bag of Jap ,I put the white seeds together and the smaller red Panicum separate.
I was telling a friend about the Avi Grain red Panicum and he said his bag was the same ..he is taking a sample back to the produce store and asking the guy there to give that sample back to Avi grain and let them know that people aren't happy ... Cheers Alan

That would be red Dakota. A red version of white millet, only birds don't like it dry. Makes an excellent green seed head but very poor as a dry seed & often used as red pannicum substitute due to its colour.
