Generally canaries are Spring breeders, but as has been said, this crazy "Indian summer" we are having in some parts of the country is confusing some of the birds. Am looking out my window at bright sunshine and rain.

Well said Finchbreeder, we are in the middle of autumn, can't complain on warm weather. However not good for nature. My almond tree had one flower few days ago. And my dad canary is singing , hope they do not breed again. My star finches are in the nest too. Crazy

Hi again
Dark canary is brown and grey, not green like its father. And parents have 3 more eggs. That is 4th nest this season.

Both those young will change in colour to an orange colour when they moult due to their fathers colour, the dark one will be a so called green but with an orange colour through it. Craig

Thanks Craig for info. The other 2 babies from previous nests are getting more orange tone.
They singing already so it doesn't matter which colour they are.

That's a good pair you have there. After this one give her a rest and feed lots of egg food, dandelion, and egg shell.

She has earned the break.
