This Java has been hanging out with these Tree Sparrows for 2 months now.
No idea where it came from but seems quite happy.

Maybe it is suffering from an identity chrisis, and thinks it is a boring little sparrow. Instead of a regal Java.

Not sure whether this can happen, but just imagine the hybrid? If I was you I would try and catch him up, quarantine, sure looks like a strong bird and the sparrows seem to tolerate. Interesting with the roosting side of things though, because sparrows are communal roosters, not sure about Javas. Please monitor and keep us informed. On the other side of things isn't nature wonderful? Is he/she communicating with the other species? Down side is because it is so different is the obvious takeout in a flock situation by a predator.

I love Javas, use to breed them as a kid. They really are stunners (Naturals) and had one hand raised 40 odd years ago, just beautiful birds..

I bet the sparrows are glad to have the java on board. After all whos the first one to get taken when a hawk swoops in etc.. But then again the java seems to be doing fine so far.
