Ill get some photos tomorrow but I wanted to know what a typical strawberry nest looks like?

I have three pairs and was candling eggs in what looked like a zeb nest.

The eggs looked bigger than zeb eggs and after I left the male strawbs went and guarded the nest.

I didnt handle the eggs just used a strong light.

the nests are an odd dome shape with a wide opening compared tot he size of the bird.

If the birds have access to unlimited supply of nesting grass, my Strawberry finch nests have typically had a large "beard" of grass around & below the bottom of the nest entrance.

This is a clip of an earlier one gwtting built then abandoned with 1 egg.

The better and fertile nests are much tighter.

Is there any other kind of zeb?! They would eat rocks if they saw other finches do it.

Here is one nest.

The other looks like a cup nest almost and the third looks more like a ruddy nest shape
