Hi all,
Am in the process of replacing 3 small aviaries with a single structure housing 3 aviaries or in the words of she who must be obeyed "I want a good looking aviary, not those 3 #$#@#%#&$ ones" lol
But as luck would have it, I have 1 nest with "nude nuts" and 1 with half a dozen eggs - both in the same aviary.
What is the advice from those who have done this before?
Delay the aviary replacement or go ahead with the move??
Thanks in advance for any advice offered
Spoton

99% of the time you're not going to be able to get the birds to return to the nest to sit on eggs. I've only been able to accomplish it once, with a pair of Musk Lorikeets, but they spend most of the day sitting in the nest anyway.
So your choices are probably:
- Wait until winter is here and all your birds have stopped breeding.
- Sacrifice the eggs so you can build the new aviary in warmer weather.
- Do the above, but foster the eggs under some caged canaries or society finches.

Spoton,
I would wait until the "nude nuts" fledge but sacrifice the eggs right now. Take that pair and put in a holding cage. When fledged place the parents and chicks together, they should feed them. Then you have three weeks when they are weaned to do the update and release them all together. Sounds simple, but no doubt there will be problems..ie get ready for hand raising!

Is the new avairy built? If so move everything but the 2 parent pairs. Then move them as soon as the young are fledged.
