cock birds

I seem to be breeding alot of cockbirds this year mainly in crimson,we mask and gouldians.anyone noticed the same? or maybe alot of hens?

hi gomer yes ive had more hens than cocks in the gouldians but in zebras more cocks. with me plumheads had bout even ratio out of 4 youn g in same nest had 2 cocks &2 hens . with the gouldians had 4 1 died before was able to tell which was blue back the 3 hens

so far this year I've been getting 9 hens to 1 male, thats from all the birds. the painteds though have have so far only bred hens, makes a nice change from every other year for these guys

chris my plumheads i am getting a few more hens.
your doing well mick to be getting more hens with your emblemas.

have no idea what the reason could be for getting more females than males from the painteds, everything is the same as past years in the aviary. only difference I have noticed with the birds is an increase in the amount of live food they are eating. as soon as they start to build their nest the mealworm intake almost doubles. in previous years they hardly touched live food
