What about the weather

I am interested to know if the incredibly bad weather is affecting breeding patterns and the general health of birds Australia wide, we are currently in the second month of spring and we in the west have not had a single day of spring weather and many breeders have told me they don't expect a very good season and that is on top of a poor season for some species last year.

No im not having a bad start to the breeding season, even though the weather is still bad. I think its just different areas. Some will have a good year and some a medium year

The red and dilute Zebs have both just fledged some younguns. The canarys lay, hatch, die. Others looking in nests, but doing nothing.

things have been going great here for 2 months. zebs galore, gouldians, stars, turk parrots, st helenas all breeding. Got a few others building there nests etc.
I think we are a bit spoilt on the gold coast though, the temperate is fairly constant at this time of year.

In my aviaries, the first month of spring could form the fourteenth installment of the a series of unfortunate events novels.

many species, like weavers, wait for some wet weather before getting going.
they should be firing up this year!!
my flight breeders are finding the wet tough but their are still young on the perch so cannot complain.
at least the grasses are seeding profusely!
